Quotes on Life

14 April, 2008 (16:02) | Quotes | By: Ali

Three quotes on life and living… I find all three inspirational.

Life is not about finding yourself, Life is about creating yourself.
George Bernard Shaw

To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist that is all.
Oscar Wild

Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

I’ve also posted Persian translation of these great quotes here.

Respect For Law

4 April, 2008 (20:30) | Nonviolence, Quotes | By: Ali

Today is the 40th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King. He was assassinated but his dream and legacy still lives.

I submit that an individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for the law.

Martin Luther King Jr.

Sail Away…

26 March, 2008 (15:43) | Quotes | By: Ali

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
Mark Twain

I can do something!

13 March, 2008 (10:51) | Quotes | By: Ali

I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something. And because I cannot do everything I will not refuse to do the something that I can do.
- Helen Keller

Happy Birthday “King”

15 January, 2008 (17:55) | Nonviolence, Quotes | By: Ali

Today is the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. His life and his words are very inspiring to me so I thought I’ll share a few quotes from him:

Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.

Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars… Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.

Next life

9 December, 2007 (19:29) | Quotes | By: Ali

I received this quote by email, It is really interesting and funny! I tried to find out who have said it but was not too successful, in one webpage it was mentioned that it is from Valerie Kent, and another named it as being from Woody Allen. If you know who have said it please leave a comment! Well whoever have said it, have put some thought in it!

In my next life I want to live my life backwards. You start out dead and get that out of the way. Then you wake up in an old people’s home feeling better every day. You get kicked out for being too healthy, go collect your pension, and then when you start work, you get a gold watch and a party on your first day. You work for 40 years until you’re young enough to enjoy your retirement. You party, drink alcohol, and are generally promiscuous, then you are ready for high school. You then go to primary school, you become a kid, you play. You have no responsibilities, you become a baby until you are born. And then you spend your last 9 months floating in luxurious spa like conditions with central heating and room service on tap, larger quarters every day and then Voila! You finish off as an orgasm! I rest my case.

The world

3 December, 2007 (23:05) | Quotes | By: Ali

The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don’t do anything about it.

Albert Einstein

Stupid censorship!

24 November, 2007 (21:27) | Human rights | By: Ali

Censorship is never over for those who have experienced it. It is a brand on the imagination that affects the individual who has suffered it, forever.
Noam Chomsky

My good friend Jadi has written in his Persian weblog that the webpage of The world’s Aids day is filtered (censored) inside Iran! Isn’t that amazingly stupid? Jadi has a category in his page which is called Stupid Filtering where he introduces these kind of stupid censorship.

In a previous entry here I posted an Amnesty advertisement, I found another one while surfing in the internet which is also very interesting and effective, especially I guess it is interesting for people of my country, you’ll find out why when you go to the rest of this post:

12 November, 2007 (22:07) | Human rights | By: Ali

“There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.”

I first saw this quote in an Amnesty international commercial on YouTube. I was surfing in YouTube for the Amnesty international advertisement which you can watch here. I find it really well made,I thought I will share both with you.
