With riot police out in force on the streets of Tehran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad took the oath of office Wednesday and began a second term as Iran’s president.
Meanwhile more and more arrests and “confessions” are on the way as yesterday, Mir Hamid Hassanzadeh, who now is an advisor to the general manager of ISNA, was involved in Moussavi’s reformist presidential campaign and the candidate’s Web site, Ghalam News, has been arrested.

Gibbs said yesterday that the white house will recognize Ahmadinejad as Iran’s president. He calls the clashes a “debate”, in What kind of debate people disappear and then turn up to be DEAD? Does Mr. Obama’s Change, mean he’ll get involved with a little dictator (knowing what he’s done to his people)?

Today is the start of the Persian New Year. Happy Norouz to all of you who celebrate this day.
President Obama has addressed Iranian people and government in a Norouz message which you can watch here. I am impressed especially by his Happy New Year in Persian at the end of the video.

Obama on Science and Evolution

A new Gallup Poll shows that only 39% of Americans say they “believe in the theory of evolution,” while a quarter say they do not believe in the theory, and another 36% don’t have an opinion either way. According to their work which is based on telephone interviews with 1,018 adults, believing in evolution has a strong relationship to educational level. I think there is not much to say. David Bergman, has made a “big photo” from the big event last week. He has used a robot Gigapan and a canon G10 to have 220 photos and mix all of them in a huge Panorama that has 1474 mega pixels. Look at this great Panorama here in full screen. If you zoom in you can recognize the faces of the 2 million people on this photo. Read more about this amazing work here and here.

President Obama’s challenge: the first 100 day’s

Finally we can call him president Obama. The first 100 days will not be easy for him as there are a lot of challenges on the way.
Amnesty international in a campaign called “100 days”, is asking Obama to meet the challenge and take concrete steps to counter terror with justice in his first 100 days in office. It seems that he is taking steps as he has stopped all the Guantanamo trials to review the tribunal process as one of his first official acts in the white house.
